The interplay between gender and power is at the heart of feminist theory and practice. In this class we shall examine how „gender regimes” are socio-politically constituted not only at the microlevel of everyday practices, but also at the macrolevel where transnational institutions regulate the processes of gendering. We shall explore the connections between gender and power within the specific context of regional as well as global politics. The aim is to understand how gender relations are power relations. We will further investigate how thinking about gender and power from a transnational perspective allows us to redefine the nature and practice of feminist projects.
